Book Reviews

I. LOVED. THIS. BOOK. It’s the perfect love story that’s witty, funny, sweet and light. I swear, I read the entire thing smiling and giggling like a teenage girl high on a crush, complete with that certain happy buzz and pink hearts in the horizon.

The year is 1999. Lincoln O’Neill is The Courier Newspaper’s resident internet security officer whose job is to monitor employee emails and issue memos to employees whose emails get flagged for violating company email policies. It’s a boring and monotonous job that requires him to work nights, mostly doing nothing. Lincoln figures he can stay around and save up until he can move out from his mother’s house and do something else more challenging.

Enter two funny and candid best friends, copywriter Jennifer Scribner-Snyder and movie reviewer Beth Fremont. Their emails get flagged A LOT. Their emails range from office gossip, mean bosses, family dramas, phantom pregnancies to emotionally unavailable boyfriends. Lincoln should REALLY send them memo after memo, but he finds himself unable to, and surprisingly, very deeply in love with Beth Fremont. And he really cannot stop reading her emails now, especially when she starts emailing Jennifer about him and calling him Her Cute Guy, can he?
